The Background
The Spoons card game rules grew out of early 20th-century family parlor games in the U.S. It’s closely related to “Pig” and has since become a dorm room and youth group staple thanks to its mix of simple rules and dramatic spoon grabs.

FAQs
How many spoons do you need?
You’ll always need one less spoon than the number of players. For example, if 6 people are playing, you only set 5 spoons in the center. This is the classic Spoons card game rule that creates the scramble at the end of each round.
Can you play Spoons with more than 8 players?
Yes! The Spoons card game works with larger groups. Simply add more spoons and cards. With 10+ players, you may want to use two decks of cards to keep the game moving.
What happens if two players grab the same spoon?
In the official Spoons game rules, whoever has the better grip keeps the spoon. If neither lets go, you can do a quick rematch duel in the next round or use a “gentle tug” rule to avoid broken silverware.
